Touching the world here and abroad with the Gospel of grace and glory and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ is at the forefront of our call and mission at Grace Assembly. Many in foreign lands, without access to the Gospel, remain in our hearts and prayers. Although we are a small congregation, the Lord has provided the means to reach out to various missionary efforts. Our fervent prayer is for the “whole council of God” to be preached around the world in these “last days” before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel, as a “word in season” must include the “Pauline Revelation” and the message of the hour, “Behold He Cometh!”
Over ten years ago we began supporting a small missionary outreach in Bangladesh. Our commitment to Bangladesh began when a young missionary in our congregation felt a call to the mission field. He became acquainted with the ministry there and later met and married the pastor’s daughter. In earlier days we were able to support their missionary travels to rural villages by supplying bicycles and providing wells with clean water. God has blessed the work in Bangladesh with many receiving the Gospel being born again and baptized. Five years ago, with our support, they were able to construct a sanctuary for their meetings. It was dedicated as Grace Assembly Bangladesh. We have enjoyed a close fellowship and have continued to support the ministry there. We were deeply saddened when Pastor Atul was suddenly taken home to be with the Lord. However, the ministry has continued under his wife Mina, as Overseer. Mina is now supported by Pastor Jotish and a few lay pastors. We are believing God for an outpour of His Spirit in these last days for the Gospel to be made known among many more people in Bangladesh.
Founding Pastor Roy Atul suddenly went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2017. His wife Mina now serves as the Overseer of the ministry. We grieve greatly the loss of Pastor Roy, but we rest in the knowledge that his labor will not be forgotten, and his work will be rewarded. What was planted continues to grow!
Grace Assembly funds mission trips for young people and others who may feel a call to be missionaries in foreign fields. We also support certain relief efforts through charities such as Samaritan’s Purse as they respond to both the humanitarian and spiritual needs of victims of natural disasters of which many become refugees. This is a growing crisis around the world, and we pray earnestly for those who are suffering.
Every year Dana Erwin, a committed member of Grace Assembly, organizes an effort to pack and donate shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The number of boxes we provide has increased each year. It is such a joy to hear the reports about these young children who have been touched by the shoebox gifts but moreover by the Gospel and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In our assembly we remain deeply concerned for persecuted Christians around the globe. Many have been imprisoned and even suffered death for their faith. Remote places such as North Korea, China, Syria, Sudan, and Nigeria, suffering Christians are lifted up to the Lord in our prayer services. We are again thankful to Dana Erwin for her faithful efforts in maintaining a bulletin board and keeping us abreast of the latest news on persecuted Christians around the world. We are routinely reminded of these pressing needs as a praying Church.
(Hebrews 13:3)
“Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer
adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”
